Introducing Barco UniSee 500+: Offering Image Perfection to Save Energy and Expenses

Barco UniSee 500+ technology’s innovative NoGap technology creates virtually seamless displays, and the UniSee Mount system makes the installation precise and damage-free

Barco introduced a new step in their success story: Barco UniSee 500+, which even better addresses the real challenges customers face every day in control rooms, boardrooms, and corporate environments.

What's Driving the Upgrade?

While talking to customers running 24/7 operations, three things come up consistently: they need exceptional image quality for critical decision-making, they want to reduce operational costs, and they're increasingly focused on operator wellbeing. Barco UniSee 500+ tackles all three.

Image Quality That Makes a Difference

For the first time in the 500-nit segment, Barco UniSee 500+ introduces smart local dimming technology. In practice, that means sharper images and more accurate visual information – exactly what operators need when they're monitoring critical systems or analysing data.

The platform uses advanced LCD modules with enhanced communication between panels, which creates a more uniform display across the entire wall, allowing fewer visible boundaries and inconsistencies.

Better Working Conditions Mean Better Performance

Barco UniSee 500+ addresses one main challenge – spending hours staring at screens in a control room, with several ergonomic improvements that might sound technical but have real human impact.

The platform now achieves EMC Class B certification for electromagnetic radiation – an upgrade from the previous Class A standard, which means lower electromagnetic emissions, less interference with nearby equipment, and a safer, more compliant installation environment. This also gives the product a strong advantage in competitive bidding processes where electromagnetic performance matters.

Heat radiation has been optimised too, reducing thermal output and contributing to more comfortable control room conditions. Combined with the platform's existing eye fatigue reduction measures and wide viewing angles, the Barco UniSee 500+ is genuinely designed for people who work with it day in and day out.

There's also a practical operations benefit: expanded software monitoring parameters provide deeper insight into panel status and lifecycle indicators. That means better maintenance planning and less downtime – which any operations manager will appreciate.

Compatibility and Reliability

In a large installation running 24/7, the energy savings add up quickly. When you factor in the improved reliability, reduced maintenance needs, and the platform's proven low total cost of ownership, the ROI calculation becomes compelling.

Barco UniSee 500+ maintains full compatibility with the proven UniSee ecosystem, including both the traditional UniSee Mount and the recently launched InvisiMount (which offers a sleeker design without visible wall crosses). This means seamless integration whether users are planning a new installation or upgrading an existing setup.

"We've listened closely to our customers in control rooms and corporate environments who need exceptional image quality, outstanding ergonomics, and sustainable operations," says Gerrit Vermeire, VP Product Management and R&D Display at Barco. "Barco UniSee 500+ delivers on all fronts – advancing image performance, improving operator ergonomics, and reducing operational costs."
