YAMAHA EXPANDS INTEGRATION WITH CONTROL4 AND RTI HOME-AUTOMATION SYSTEMS THROUGH ADDITION OF MUSICCAST CONTROL

Yamaha MusicCast WXA-50

Yamaha to Expand Integration with Control4 and RTI Home-Automation Systems through Addition of MusicCast Control

Yamaha is strengthening its ongoing collaboration with leading home-automation companies Control4 and RTI with the planned addition of MusicCast multiroom audio control to the companies’ home-control systems.

The development demonstrates the commitment by Yamaha to custom integrators, enabling them to design home-control solutions that access the full array of MusicCast sources and multiroom streaming capabilities. Control4 and RTI systems already control the basic operations of many Yamaha MusicCast products, but new IP-based drivers in development will expand control to include multiroom-audio functions of many MusicCast-equipped products, including AVENTAGE AV receivers, sound bars, a streaming amp and preamp, and powered speakers. Such functions include room linking for simultaneous playback of music in multiple rooms.

The new drivers of the Control4 and RTI solutions, will integrate the control of multiroom audio, home theater, lighting, security, HVAC and other home systems through in-wall and tabletop touchscreens and in-wall keypads. To bring the advantages of MusicCast to even more installations, Yamaha is working with additional third-party control companies to develop MusicCast drivers for their control.

The compact WXA-50 streaming amplifier and WXC-50 streaming preamplifier are ideal for custom integrators who want to add MusicCast music-streaming sources to a central equipment rack for playback through wired in-wall, in-ceiling and outdoor speakers installed throughout the house.

Versatile, high-performance MusicCast technology empowers to stream music stored on networked computers, smartphones, and tablets to MusicCast-equipped audio products in multiple rooms of the house over a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. MusicCast products also stream music wirelessly from the cloud through built-in cloud-based music sources such as Pandora, Spotify Connect, Napster (formerly Rhapsody), and SiriusXM Internet Radio as well as thousands of internet radio stations via vTuner.

With MusicCast, a smartphone or tablet also doubles as an intuitive remote control to select songs from the user’s music library, direct them to the room or rooms of their choice, and even direct different songs simultaneously to different rooms. In addition, MusicCast devices redistribute music from external audio sources plugged into their inputs, including turntables and TV set-top boxes. MusicCast devices can also redistribute music from Bluetooth-connected smartphones and tablets.
